I had the pleasure of joining The Daily Habit podcast to discuss the mindset, principles, values, I've learned over the years as a successful entrepreneur. ► SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/channe....l/UCq6vjDScNK9XVm2sZ

Welcome to another episode of the Daily Habits Podcast. We are recording this live, in the London Campus here at Google, so this is a co-working space owned by Google in Shoreditch. And I've got two guests and they've already been on the show really, haven't you guys. You've already had sneaky little goes before, but I wanted to bring them both on, for this environment especially because you guys are entrepreneurs, these guys, well I mean you're here, they've created incredible businesses. And I really wanna extract from them the mindset, the principles, the values, and everything that they've taken on and learned over the years to hopefully give you guys some inspiration, and me included, 'cause I'm not at their level yet. It's gonna be great fun. So we're gonna have about an hour, running like this is normally how we do it, and then we'll have some questions at the end, we've got some mics to pass around so if you do have a question at the end, just put your hand up and we'll get a mic passed to you. So guys welcome.

Why entrepreneurship? Why not entrepreneurship, I say. For me it's about, I've done a lot of soul-searching actually recently to actually really understand what drives me because I always knew I was driven to do something, because in all of my business ventures, any time a challenge comes up, I've just relentlessly smashed through it. The idea of giving up or pursuing something different to what I wanted to pursue just never even came into my mind.

I mean I think one of the stories from my kind of family's past that really kind of inspires me is of the first member of my family to come to Mauritius. So my parents are from Mauritius, and they've been, my family's been in Mauritius for sort of four generations, originally from India. And the first chap who came from India to Mauritius was a chap who came as an indentured laborer, as it was at the time, Mauritius was part of the British control, etc., and he came on a boat from Calcutta to India to work on a sugar cane fields as an indentured laborer. And what he did was he started, they would get paid modest wages under the indentured labor system, he saved everything that he could save, whilst all the others around him, you know all the other workers would be sort of drinking and smoking, he would save everything he had, he wouldn't spend any of it. And he also noticed that the horses they were using to draw the carriages carrying all the sugar cane were leaving manure, and what the farmers were doing was they were piling up the manure and burning it. And he said, "Look, can I take the manure from you, "instead of you guys burning it?" And they said, "Fine." And so he, I'm not quite sure what he did to it, but he did something to it to turn it into a fertilizer, and then he sold it back to the farmers.

It's not about people wanting the same vision as you have for your business or you have for your business, or me for my business, that's not what we're saying. It's not about everyone having friends that have got the same goals, it's about their attitude and the mindset towards.

It's that growth mindset like you said. People that aspire to something, that's what we look for in employees, and it's very difficult in an interview to do it, but we ask certain questions in terms of how you see your next couple of years progressing and what are the key events that play out over the next couple of years? And what is that, how do you see yourself, when you're at the end of your life, it's quite sinister, you know, like you said about eulogy, what do you want people to say that you've achieved in your life? If people don't have an answer for that, it's very off-putting because I think if you don't have an answer for what you want to do in life, I mean that's scary, like what.
