How to go live on NepTime (browser + OBS Virtual Camera)

NepTime is built for creators who want to upload, watch, and livestream in one place. Going live does not require a separate “pro streamer” product name. You open a go-live page, pick a camera path, and talk to viewers on the same platform where your VODs already live.

This guide covers browser go-live, the OBS Virtual Camera workflow, creator chat allow/block, recording, and chat replay.

What livestreaming on NepTime is

Anyone with a signed-in NepTime account can reach the go-live entry at https://neptime.io/live. If you are signed out, you will be asked to sign in first. Live listings appear at https://neptime.io/videos/live—sometimes busy, sometimes empty. If nobody is live right now, the list may simply be empty.

You do not need to configure any streaming servers yourself. Creators use the browser UI. Power users who already live in OBS can pipe that setup into Chrome via Virtual Camera.

Go live in the browser

Quick steps (see also the NepTime Support article “How do I go live?”):

Sign in.
Open https://neptime.io/live.
Allow camera and mic when the browser asks.
Use your webcam (or the OBS Virtual Camera device—see next section).
Hit Go Live.

That is the default path. If the page asks for permissions again after a browser update, grant them and retry. NepTime Support also has troubleshooting articles for OBS camera issues and for choosing a browser for go-live.

Stream with OBS Virtual Camera

Prefer scenes, overlays, and browser sources in OBS? NepTime does not use a Twitch-style RTMP stream key. Instead, send OBS into the browser with OBS Virtual Camera:

In OBS Studio, start Virtual Camera.
In Chrome (or your go-live browser), set the camera permission / device to OBS Virtual Camera.
Open https://neptime.io/live.
Go Live as usual.

If Virtual Camera does not appear as a device, fix that in OBS/OS permissions first. NepTime can only see what the browser is allowed to use.

Chat controls while you are live

Creators get a simple, useful switch: allow chatting or block chatting for the live room. Use it when a room gets noisy or when you want a quiet premiere.

Recording and chat replay

When recording is enabled for the live system, NepTime can save the stream for later playback. Chat replay can accompany that recording. After you end a stream, give processing a minute. If a recording never appears, contact NepTime Support.

Viewers who miss you live can still catch the VOD if recording succeeded. That is the everyday creator loop: go live → talk in chat → leave a recording behind.

Good to know

No RTMP stream key: to stream from OBS, use OBS Virtual Camera as described above.
Chat controls for the live room are allow/block.

FAQ

Do I need OBS to go live?: No. Webcam + browser is enough. OBS is optional for people who already build scenes there.
Why can’t I paste an RTMP URL like Twitch?: NepTime live works through browser go-live. To use OBS, route it into the browser with OBS Virtual Camera (see above).
Can viewers chat?: Yes, unless you block chatting from the creator controls.
Will my stream be saved?: Recording saves your stream when enabled. After the stream, check that the replay has processed. Chat replay can accompany that playback.
Is livestreaming only for paid accounts?: Livestreaming is currently open to all users. If go-live is blocked for your account, contact NepTime Support.
