Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., will resign from Congress to become chief executive of former President Donald Trump’s fledgling social media company next month, the group said Monday.

Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, will start as CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, or TMTG, in January, the firm said in a press release.

Nunes, who boasts being a dairy farmer, will begin his new career despite having no apparent prior experience working in the tech industry or as an executive.

The press release came hours after documents revealed that the special purpose acquisition company — or SPAC — that plans to merge with Trump’s company is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC and another regulator had asked the SPAC, Digital World Acquisition Corp. or DWAC, for information about the lead-up to the deal with TMTG being announced.

Shares of DWAC rose more than 7% in after-hours trading following the announcement that Nunes had been tapped to lead TMTG.

Nunes is just the second member of the 117th Congress to resign before the end of his term. If the GOP regains majority control of the House in the 2022 midterm elections, Nunes would have been in line to become chairman of the powerful, tax-writing Ways and Means Committee.

“I’m humbled and honored President Trump has asked me to lead the mission and the world class team that will deliver on this promise,” Nunes said in the press release.

A spokesman for the congressman did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Nunes, 48, has represented California’s 22nd congressional district in the San Joaquin Valley since 2003. The San Joaquin Valley Sun, which first reported Nunes’ departure from Congress, noted that California’s redistricting maps showed Nunes may have faced a tougher reelection fight in 2022.

Nunes led the House Intelligence Committee from 2015 to 2019, when Republicans controlled the chamber. He garnered a reputation as a staunch defender of Trump’s during the special counsel probe of Russian election interference and possible coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign, and later during Trump’s first impeachment in the House.

In his final month in office, and just two days before the deadly Jan. 6 invasion of the Capitol, Trump awarded Nunes the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Nunes was one of the 147 House Republicans who voted to challenge President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory after the pro-Trump mob had been cleared out of the building.

Trump’s company has shared generic, thinly detailed plans to launch a platform called “Truth Social,” which it presents as a future competitor of Twitter and other social media giants. On Saturday, TMTG and DWAC announced an agreement to raise $1 billion in “committed capital” from a group of unnamed investors in a so-called PIPE, or private investment in public equity, that would be received once the two firms consummated their deal.

Nunes’ own biography on his congressional website shows little experience in his pre-congressional career that would clearly transfer to the work of a tech CEO.

His bio notes he worked from childhood on a family farm, and that he bought farmland with his brother after starting a harvesting business with savings he accumulated from raising cattle as a teenager.

Nunes graduated from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and a master’s degree in agriculture. Before running for Congress, then-President George W. Bush in 2001 tapped Nunes to serve as California’s director of rural development for the federal Department of Agriculture.

the wisdom of his father Daoud.
God extended to our master Soliman with grace after the trials and gave
him a king that no one will take after him until he knows that Allah is the
strong mastermind of everything... Where he mocked him bird, humans ,
the fairies , demons and winds to spread the religion of Allah.
Despite the construction of a large number of structures and houses of
worship, however, the misfortune was still contending with the right and
the enemies of the call are determined to accuse him of witchcraft and
many attempts to get rid of it. But Soliman, thanks to his morals, and
compassion, even to the ants, his teachings, and his wisdom, managed to
defeat his enemies and made them believe in him after he found them
right.
He also managed to build a civilization for Bani Israel in all its
components, with the help of its soldiers and the welfare of the good and
prosperity of Bani Israel.
And thanks to miracles, Soliman managed to liberate the sea from the
injustice of Golan and his strength and the removal of the Queen of
Sabaa' Balqis and its people from the worship of the sun to the worship of
Allah the one and only.
The birds left and the demons were liberated and the fairies went away
after learning about the death of Soliman, who died a while ago, and they

were still working, thinking that Soliman was alive, and they only knew
from an animal in the land.
Praise be to God Almighty and his slave and Prophet Soliman, peace be
upon him many blessings and special qualities and was a title of greatness
and glory and a manifestation of the great king and high degree .God has
chosen him for the Prophecy and the book and the use of demons , the
fairies, humans and wind, and the ability to hear the words of birds and
ants and God gave him knowledge for the note of the judiciary and praise
of the mountains and condemned him kings and princes and the most
famous Queen of Sabaa' in Yemen and yet did not forget Allah's grace to
him.
" And We had certainly given to David and Soliman knowledge, and
they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah , who has favored us over many of
His believing servants (15) And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O
people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been
given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty. (16)"

(17 Aug 2019) China's paramilitary People's Armed Police continued to hold drills in Shenzhen on Saturday, across the border from Hong Kong, fuelling speculation that they could be sent in to suppress the protests.
Officers could be seen exercising inside a sports stadium, and dozens of army-green armoured carriers and trucks were parked in and outside the facility.
Chinese state media said that the Shenzhen exercises were planned earlier and were not directly related to the unrest in Hong Kong.
However, speculation arise as they came shortly after the central government in Beijing said the protests were beginning to show the "sprouts of terrorism."
Hong Kong kicked off another weekend of protests with thousands of schoolteachers marching to the official residence of the city's leader earlier Saturday.
Another protest was held in a district on the Kowloon side of Victoria Harbour, and a counter-rally backing the government at Victoria park.
This would be the 10th consecutive weekend where protests were held in the Chinese territory, demanding the Hong Kong Chief Executive's resignation, democratic elections and an independent investigation into police use of force.
