In den vergangenen Monaten gerät er jedoch zunehmend in die Kritik, auch in den Reihen seiner Wähler*innen. Das zeigt sich unter anderem an den aktuellen Umfragewerten. Mit 9,4 Prozent liegt Joe Biden vor Trump, obwohl er wegen der Corona-Pandemie auf den üblichen Wahlkampf verzichtet.
Und trotzdem gibt es sie noch: Anhänger*innen des Präsidenten, die aus voller Überzeugung hinter Donald Trump stehen. Reporterin Katja Döhne begibt sich auf die Suche nach den treuen Fans des amtierenden US-Präsidenten und trifft sie an den unterschiedlichsten Orten: in Illinois, McDowell County und Richmond.
Sie spricht mit Dale, einem homosexuellen Landwirt, dessen Freund*innen der LGBTQIA-Community angehören und seinen Trump-Support kritisieren, macht sich ein Stimmungsbild von einem der ärmsten Orte West Virginias, wo Trumps Politik lautstark befürwortet wird und tauscht sich mit seinen Anhänger*innen auf einer Black-Lives-Matter-Gegendemonstration aus.
