"Mijn kinderen hebben mij die week alleen maar op televisie gezien, geloof ik", blikt hij terug. Hoe groot de behoefte aan de stille tocht was, bleek pas op de dag zelf. 'Imposant en indrukwekkend', noemt Matthijssen het twintig jaar later. "De tocht ging naar Station Vlaardingen-Oost", vertelt Matthijssen.
