Pedestrian route
Project name: Radio City - Art at the microphone.
Authors and participants: producer Katya Bochavar (Moscow), director Oleg Makarov
(Moscow), playwright Karina Besolty (Vladikavkaz), host of the radio program Boris
Pertsel (Moscow).
Location: city center. Sound system "Radio City". Hammocks will be provided to those
who wish to have a comfortable listening in the Central Park of Culture and Leisure
named after Kosta Khetagurov.

During the last two days of the symposium – on September 30 and October 1 – the city radio
became a platform for contemporary art. This is an unprecedented and perhaps the first in the
world experience of this kind. The townspeople heard post-dramatic "theater by the microphone"
performances, lectures popularizing current cultural projects and critical discussions of famous
artists and culture experts on the air.
Radio is democratic. Its broadcasting is for everyone. You do not need a ticket to get acquainted
with the radio creation of artists, composers, singers, actors, poets, who are keen on the sound.
The sounds coming from the radio can wake your own imagination, make you build up a sound
heard in the imagination. All these processes occur easily, subconsciously - sounds give birth to
images that are conditioned by personal experience, the cultural level of each individual listener.
"Using radio as a carrier and as an instrument, we apply its dual nature: on the one hand, the
lack of a visual component, on the other, the aggravation of the level of sensory perception
through hearing. This ambiguity evokes voluminous images, and what is important is that each
one has his own images. A radio show is a work in which the viewer is both a casting director,
an operator, and a costumier. The listener himself chooses a platform on which the events heard
by him on the radio unfolds, and if there were an opportunity to get these performances/films/
interviews/concerts out of our heads and compare them, we would certainly be shocked by their
diversity.
Creation of radio programs is my old dream reflecting those trends and tendencies in
contemporary art that are of particular interest to me. I work a lot with sound, because sound is
one of the shortest paths that runs through the associative line from the object of art to the
feelings and mind of a man" /Katya Bochavar/

TRANSCRIPT

Hello there! This is the "Sounds American" channel.
In this video, we’re going to talk about the American vowel sound /eɪ/, as in the word “make.”
You can also hear this sound in words like "take," "day," "wait" or "eight."
We’ll be using a special phonetic symbol - /eɪ/ - for this sound.

Let's do a quick test. Read this phrase aloud: "A snail takes a late train" Every word in this phrase has the /eɪ/ sound. If you’re not quite sure you made this sound correctly, keep watching.

OK. To pronounce the /eɪ/ vowel, you should focus on the correct position of your lips and tongue.
Partially open your mouth, spread your lips wide and make them tense.
Raise the middle of your tongue to the roof of your mouth and push it to the front. The tip of your tongue should be down, just behind your bottom front teeth.
Remember, the /eɪ/ is a tense sound, so your lips and your tongue should be very tense. Your jaw should be partially lowered.
Now, let's pronounce this sound: /eɪ/, /eɪ/, /eɪ/.

Now, let's practice this sound in some words.
You’ll see a word on the screen and hear its pronunciation. Like this.
You'll have a few seconds to pronounce the word, if you want to.
Let' begin.
[Pronunciation exercise]
• able
• ace
• ache
• age
• aid
• aim
• ate
• babe
• baited
• bake
• baked
• base
• basis
• bathe
• bay
• behave
• beige
• blade
• blame
• blaze
• bracelet
• braided
• brain
• brake
• brave
• break
• cable
• cage
• cake
• came

You're done! Congratulations!
The /eɪ/ is one of the major vowel sounds of American English, and it’s also the pronunciation of the first letter of the English alphabet.

So, when you hear the /eɪ/ sound, you can assume that it should be spelled with the letter 'a.'
And you will be right, but only 73% of the time. The remaining 27% is divided by the following combination of letters:
'ai,' as in "wait,"
'ay,' as in "day,"
'ei,' as in "eight"
or 'ea,' as in "break."

We can’t see a pattern either. :)

Thanks for watching! Hope you find it useful.
Stay tuned on our Sounds American channel!

⁣Mobbed by Raccoons!

In this extremely last minute Drive with me Road Trip Car Vlog my friend Drew and I drove to Phoenix, Arizona from Los Angeles, California. So after the insanely boring 7 hour car ride we went camping with our childhood best friends. During the road trip Drew got pulled over by a cop! I thought he was going to get arrested because he was going over 90mph BUT the police officer just gave him a speeding ticket for 79mph. We finally got to Arizona and went camping at Lost Dutchman State Park. I saw my first scorpion, woke up to my friend sleepwalking, and got crazy sun burnt! I somehow lost my pants in the Arizona and I only packed on pair of pants so...

The truth, with photons.
I hope I've articulated everything clearly in this video. If not, I'll clarify in comments. Thanks to everyone who appears in this video and thanks to everyone who watches this video!

Veritasium is of course a combination of the latin 'veritas' meaning truth, and the common element ending 'ium'. I guess this is my version of the 'draw my life' craze that rolled through YouTube many years ago. Except I wanted to tell my story with the actual moments, the photons, the stored magnetic states. There's something about that which is so important to me (because I think the alternative involves fooling yourself) which is why I'm so fascinated by film and video.

One of my inspirations for the name Veritasium came from the end of the poem Ode on a Grecian Urn by John Keats, in which he writes:
"Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."

The game was created by Markus "Notch" Persson in the Java programming language and released as a public alpha for personal computers in 2009 before officially releasing in November 2011, with Jens Bergensten taking over development. Minecraft has since been ported to various platforms and became the best-selling video game of all time, with 200 million copies sold across all platforms and 126 million monthly
In Minecraft, players explore a blocky, procedurally-generated 3D world with infinite terrain, and may discover and extract raw materials, craft tools and items, and build structures or earthworks. Depending on game mode, players can fight computer-controlled "mobs", as well as cooperate with or compete against other players in the same world. Game modes include a survival mode, in which players must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, and a creative mode, where players have unlimited resources. Players can modify the game to create new gameplay mechanics, items, and assets.
Minecraft has been critically acclaimed, winning several awards and being cited as one of the greatest and most influential video games of all time, being inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame in June 2020 Social media, parodies, adaptations, merchandise, and the annual MineCon conventions played large roles in popularizing the game. It has also been used in educational environments, especially in the realm of computing systems, as virtual computers and hardware devices have been built in it. In 2014, Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property were purchased by Microsoft for US$2.5 billion A number of spin-off games have also been produced, such as Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Earth
Minecraft is a 3D sandbox game that has no specific goals to accomplish, allowing players a large amount of freedom in choosing how to play the game However, there is an achievement system, known as "advancements" in the Java Edition of the game. Gameplay is in the first-person perspective by default, but players have the option for third-person perspective. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects—mainly cubes and fluids, and commonly called "blocks"—representing various materials, such as dirt, stone, ores, tree trunks, water, and lava. The core gameplay revolves around picking up and placing these objects. These blocks are arranged in a 3D grid, while players can move freely around the world. Players can "mine" blocks and then place them elsewhere, enabling them to build things Many commentators have described the game's physics system as unrealistic; liquids continuously flow for a limited horizontal distance from source blocks, which can be removed by placing a solid block in its place or by scooping it into a bucket. The game also contains a material known as redstone, which can be used to make primitive mechanical devices, electrical circuits, and logic gates, allowing for the construction of many complex systems
The game world is virtually infinite and procedurally generated as players explore it, using a map seed that is obtained from the system clock at the time of world creation (or manually specified by the player) There are limits on vertical movement, but Minecraft allows an infinitely large game world to be generated on the horizontal plane. Due to technical problems when extremely distant locations are reached, however, there is a barrier preventing players from traversing to locations beyond 30,000,000 blocks from the center. The game achieves this by splitting the world data into smaller sections called "chunks" that are only created or loaded when players are nearby The world is divided into biomes ranging from deserts to jungles to snowfields the terrain includes plains, mountains, forests, caves, and various lava/water bodies. The in-game time system follows a day and night cycle, and one full cycle lasts 20 real-time minutes.
When starting a new world, players must choose one of five game modes, as well as one of four difficulties, ranging from peaceful to hard. Increasing the difficulty of the game causes the player to take more damage from mobs, as well as having other difficulty-specific effects. For example, the peaceful difficulty prevents hostile mobs from spawning, and the hard difficulty allows players to starve to death if their hunger bar is depleted Once selected, the difficulty can be changed, but the game mode is locked and can only be changed with cheats
New players have a randomly selected default character skin of either Steve or Alex] but the option to create custom skins was made available in 2010 Players encounter various non-player characters known as mobs, such as animals, villagers, and hostile creatures. Passive mobs, such as cows, pigs, and chickens, can be hunted for food and crafting materials. They spawn
