De schoonmaakwerkzaamheden in de Botlek na de olielekkage van afgelopen weekeinde, zijn in volle gang. Ruim tachtig mensen zijn momenteel bezig in speciaal ingerichte wasstraten in de Geulhaven, om zee- en binnenvaartschepen olievrij te maken. "Het gaat 24 uur per dag door", zegt havenmeester René de Vries. Op een groot ponton met schoonmaakapparatuur worden schepen schoongemaakt. Dit duurt per schip twee tot zes uur.''Inmiddels zijn er vijftien binnenvaartschepen en één zeeschip door de wasstraat gehaald. "Bij sommige schepen gaat het maar om een klein randje met olie, bij andere schepen is het een groter stuk", zegt De Vries. PrioriteitenVoor het Havenbedrijf Rotterdam liggen de prioriteiten op dit moment naast het schoonmaken van de schepen ook vooral bij het weghalen van de olie op het water. De jachthavens die eerder werden gesloten om de verspreiding van olie tegen te gaan, zijn inmiddels allemaal weer open. "Toen we de olieschermen daar weghaalden, waren de havens brandschoon."Inmiddels is de helft van de olie opgeruimd, maar dat betekent volgens de havenmeester niet dat de schoonmaakacties over een paar dagen al klaar zijn. "Het is nu veel meer verspreid in kleine hoeveelheden", zegt De Vries.Zijn verwachting is dat het zeker nog weken gaat duren voor alle olie weg is. "Dit gaat veel geld kosten.
