Het is normaliter een komen en gaan van reizigers op busstation Zuidplein in Rotterdam, maar dat is maandagochtend wel anders na de nieuwe maatregelen tegen het coronavirus. Bussen vertrekken met slechts enkele passagiers en de haltes zijn nagenoeg leeg. Dagelijks pakken veel mensen vanuit de Drechtsteden, Barendrecht en de Zuid-Hollandse eilanden de bus naar Zuidplein om vervolgens via de metro verder de stad in te gaan. Maar nu de scholen dicht zijn en veel mensen thuis werken, blijft er slechts een handjevol reizigers over. 'Surrealistisch'"Het is bijna surrealistisch", zegt verslaggever Mirjam de Winter. "Ik ken het eigenlijk alleen zo stil en verlaten van de tijd dat ik uitging en zondagochtend om 07:00 uur de eerste bus terug naar Numansdorp moest nemen. Af en toe zie je een bus vertrekken met een handjevol mensen."Een vrouw staat bij een halte te wachten op de bus naar Dordrecht. "Ik heb borstkanker en heb een afspraak in het ziekenhuis", zegt ze. "Radiotherapie gaat gewoon door."Een andere vrouw moet maandagochtend naar Barendrecht. "Ik moet gewoon werken op kantoor. Ik werk bij een bedrijf dat spullen maakt voor blinden en slechtzienden, dat gaat gewoon door. We maken er maar het beste van."AngstZe omschrijft Rotterdam nu als spookstad. "Maar ik vind het verstandig dat de scholen dicht zijn. Ik dacht verleden week al: als er geen honderd mensen bij elkaar mogen zijn, waarom dan wel vijfhonderd kinderen? Voor de horeca is het wel heel erg, die missen veel omzet."Onder de reizigers heerst ook scepsis. "Het is even een rare wereld", zegt een vrouw die maandag haar eerste werkdag op haar nieuwe werk heeft. "Ik heb er mijn bedenkingen bij over hoe het gaat en hoe dat virus in elkaar zit. Ik snap de angst wel, maar daardoor gaan mensen zich heel raar gedragen.
